Two thousand and ten

Mention "2010" to any South African and before anything else, the Soccer World Cup is at the forefront of every mind, its like we've named the World Cup "2010". I've had the priviledge of watching the Moses Mabida Stadium, in Durban, slowly take form and it is magnificent. It absolutely meets any International Standard and i am so proud of it, so proud of my country, and so excited for this year. There are a number of different stadia that have been erected throughout the country, that will be filled with screaming fans from all over the globe and only the greatest players in the world. Our airports have been "renovated" and in Durbs we have a new one being built, an International Airport and they will be a confident, friendly and warm welcome to all those flocking to our shores for the first time.

So yes, i have had my doubts as to how South Africa, a third world country, would pull this off. We're still building our nation and overcoming our past. I know of a multitude of families that have immigrated, SA leaving a bad taste in their mouth, and i can't say i've never entertained the same idea. But this year, call it a new years resolution or a new years revelation, but my confidence in my country is restored, and 2010 is the year of positivity, its the year of possibility and i truly believe the year of prosperity for my country. My country will blow your mind, it has beauty beyond compare, its not without its flaws, but its assets far out-weigh them. If there has ever been an opportunity to bring this nation closer together, it would be now.

My heart is buried in the white, warm sands of its gorgeous coastline. Though my thirst to see and experience the world is yet to be quenched, there is no where else I'd rather be this year.

Dev asked me the other day whether I'd made New Years resolutions, and i truly had not even thought about it. So maybe thats a good sign, that there isn't anything that i'm waiting for the new year for an excuse to change, I am so gratefully aware of my priviledged situation. I know that my Heavenly Father dances over my country, and its people, and over me. So i hope i never stop dancing throughout 2010, for Him and for my country.

Let that be my resolution.
